Simple Home Kitchen, Pantry and Coffee Bar

The kitchen is the heart of our home! It’s definitely one of the areas we dwell the most so we ensured to spend a lot of time and energy into creating an environment we love!

The first design aspect that was a must for us was taking our cabinets to the ceiling. It makes the space feel so much more proportional, elevated and grand. We may never use or fill those cabinets, but the aesthetic it provides is worth it for us!

Next, tile was a focus as we wanted something that felt clean yet made a statement, but also wasn’t too basic or boring. We went with a long subway tile that is a stunning grayish/green color (architectural gray) that we fell in love with immediately. It’s clean yet provides a pop we wanted. The biggest mistake we made though was not taking carrying it throughout the entire kitchen space, especially behind the sink, so we quickly decided to add that after we moved in. Another, worth it project for us!

An area that isn’t for everyone, but something that we as a couple thoroughly enjoy is coffee, so a coffee bar was a must for us. We also really wanted a beverage refrigerator to store miscellaneous drinks and a coffee bar area was perfect for that. We have no regrets with this design choice at all as we use it daily! Love, love, love!! Plus, I’m becoming quite the barista!

Lastly, after we moved in we quickly realized that our pantry, despite selecting the builder upgrade to wood shelving, was not maximizing the space nor functional for our lifestyle. We wanted to easily store dry food items as well as dog food and cleaning supplies. It’s an extension of our kitchen so we wanted it to match the rest of the space well. So, we enlisted the help of Closets by Design, who also designed my “cloffice’ and guest room murphy bed. It was a no brainer as they easily helped us to achieve the space we hoped for. Another worthy project for us!
