DIY Patio Remodel

A patio remodel calls for the perfect summer dress to sip cocktails in (Code: LINDSEY30 for 30% off until July 4th)!

Summer calls for as much time outside as possible, and spending it on an outdoor patio always makes for a great time! A lot of us fall in love with the set-up of outdoor patios at restaurants and hotels so desire to bring a little of that to our home. That can come with a hefty price tag though; however, is still achievable if you get creative and don’t mind putting in the time and effort. Here’s how we created an affordable outdoor oasis with a DIY patio remodel!

Patio Remodel Process

If you don’t have a covered space on your back patio, it obviously limits the time you can spend outside. To bring some shade in, you can explore a custom built gazebo or pergola but that can pricey quickly so rather you could opt for a prefabricated option. It can be a search and hunt process but there are tons of great options at various price ranges. DIY Tip: Recruit a crew to help with the assembly and built of this!

To ensure you are putting a covered structure on a solid space, you will want to explore options for the surface of your patio. If dealing with an older concrete slab there is stamped concrete and paver options to consider. You can get completed professionally but yet again that can quickly add up cost wise. A route you can opt for is to fill the cracks, resurface the concrete and add a paint finish yourself. DIY Tip: You definitely need at least two people to complete this as it’s quite the process but worth it!

For a smaller patio space you can get creative and expand the space out without having to pour additional concrete. You can increase the space by adding pavers and painting them the same finish as the rest of the space. This will provide extra square footage to place items that can take up a lot of space, like deck box, fire pit and so on. DIY Tip: You will want to level the pavers to sit flush with the rest of the space by adding sand and mulch.

DIY Patio Remodel Furniture & Finishing Touches

Now here is where the fun of the project starts! Filling the space with new patio furniture will really make the space look updated. For a functional space that offers as much comfortable seating as possible consider a sectional with a gas fire pit table. A dining table set that includes bench style seating offers great functionality in the space, too. If still wanting more seating, a few cushioned ottomans can do the trick. Lastly, for a resort feel and more privacy, add some outdoor linen curtains to the gazebo. DIY Tip: Don’t forget a colorful area rug, throw pillows and lanterns to finish the space! It may be a lot of work but sipping cocktails alfresco will never be better than on a space you created yourself!!

Cheers,
